Who we are

Tasted is an iPhone app made by Ciobanu LLC, based in New York, USA. This page explains what the app does with your information.

The short version

We don't collect any of your data. There's no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. We don't run any servers, so your recipes never pass through us.

Where your recipes are stored

Your recipes, photos, dinner plan, and settings are stored on your iPhone and synced to your own private iCloud account using Apple's iCloud. That's what lets them come back if you get a new phone. We can't see, open, or copy anything in your iCloud. Apple's privacy policy covers how iCloud stores your data.

Recipe websites

When you add a recipe link, Tasted visits that website directly from your iPhone to get the recipe's title, photo, cooking time, and ingredients. It may also check the websites of recipes already in your list to fill in missing details. These visits come from your phone, not from us, and they don't include your name or any of your data. Like any website visit, the site can see your device's internet address, and that site's own privacy policy applies.

Tapping “View on” a recipe's source opens the site in Safari. Photos from recipe websites are saved on your phone so they load quickly.

Camera and photos

If you take a photo of a dish, Tasted asks for permission to use your camera. If you pick an existing photo, Apple's photo picker lets you choose just that photo. Tasted can't see the rest of your photo library. Photos you add are stored with your recipes as described above.

Notifications

Tasted can send you reminders. They're scheduled on your iPhone and nothing is sent through us. You can turn them off anytime in Settings, then Notifications, then Tasted.

Payment

Tasted is a one-time purchase on the App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your card, your billing address, or your Apple ID. Refunds are handled by Apple under their standard refund policy.

Children's privacy

Tasted is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13. If you have questions, use our contact form.

Deleting your data

When you delete a recipe in the app, it's removed from your iPhone and your iCloud. Deleting the app removes the copy on your iPhone, but your iCloud copy stays, so your recipes come back if you reinstall. To remove everything from iCloud too, go to Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage, choose Tasted, and delete its data.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data, we'll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top.
